Our journey

Its always good to look back once in a while and take stock of how far we’ve come. Our journey has been amazing so far… the love and appreciation we’ve received is way beyond what we would have expected when we started.

Our journey has been relatively “slow” , considering the fast paced environment we live in, but we’ve been moving steadily uphill.

We thank you all for the support and encouragement…

We are on a journey that has no destination but its all worth it !!

Here’s a quick sketch showing our journey so far…

They have a story to tell you

Children are naturally good at story telling. And so, they love it when you can spin a story around everything you want to share with them. Over-simulated almost from birth by smartphones, touch screens and videos, we can’t blame them if they are slowly getting addicted to the regular blast of colour, sound and music, and losing touch with their creative parts. Let them be little…coz they’re only like that for a while!

Kids seem to grow up with the blink of an eye. One day they are cranky li’l monsters and the very next they appear to have matured.

When N was born, how I wished him to be 1… so that my sleepless nights would be gone,

When he was 2, I wished him to be 3… so that he would be diaper free,

At 3 I wished him to be 4… thinking when he’ll start school I’ll work a little more,

Now that he’s 5, it seems he has grown up with the blink of an eye!!

The little monster has suddenly turned to a caring, understanding and sensible little man. He often surprises me with his maturity.

It’s hard to forget some of the conversations we have…

N (looking up from his Lego bag): Mom, why are you worried?

Me (surprised): Not at all!! Why do you ask?

N: But your face looks worried!!!! Continue reading “Let them be little…coz they’re only like that for a while!”

I cannot go to school today !!

Came across this poem on ‘’ and HAD to share it. Its the story of every kid!!

“I cannot go to school today”
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
“I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.

My mouth is wet, my throat is dry.
I’m going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I’ve counted sixteen chicken pox.

And there’s one more – that’s seventeen,
And don’t you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut, my eyes are blue,
It might be the instamatic flu. Continue reading “I cannot go to school today !!”

Toy – a friend or foe?

I hate toys. Toys are money. Toys are work. Toys are mess.

Tiny pieces of plastic strewn across the living room. And since little children do not care about mess (and rightfully so), it’s me who has to clear up at the end of the day. Or teach them the painfully boring task of clearing up. Shopping trips are hellish, because I have to have the painful rant of ‘no…no…no…’, and also made to feel mean and stingy.

The one thing sadly common about so many homes with parents and children, mine included, is the sight of far too many toys – some broken, most neglected. Let’s face it – every middle and upper-middle class parent has a tendency to overbuy toys. In many ways, I feel that the parent in me is more materialistic than my children. For, it is not they who demand for toys of a particular kind; it is me who gets enticed by those plastic things stacked up in bookstores and supermarket shelves. It is me who feels the twang to ensure my children have such and such toy, such and such thing. I let myself be hoodwinked by toy companies that encourage me to buy things as an expression of love. What a heap of rubbish I am fed.

And do my children actually need these toys? I remember Jungle Book, in which Mowgli is seen happily playing with pebbles. Left alone, children make their own toys, and in the process, build their own creativity rather than relying on entertainment from costly gadgets.

Baby Sleep Bags

Putting a baby to sleep comfortably is one of the top most things on a parent’s priority list. Even after the baby is put to sleep, we as parents have our minds set on the li’l one “Is she warm enough? Hope she is not feeling cold… is she still in her blanket or has she kicked it all away??“ the questions never stop !! We feel the need to check innumerable times even during the night as the li’l ones are always fidgety.

From my experience of being a mom, I can surely say that a good sound sleep for my baby was THE most important thing for me.

We, at KB understand this need of good sleep for babies and highly recommend sleep bags for 0-3 years. After 3, a child can be put comfortably in a blanket or quilt.

sleep bag               A bit about sleep bags:

  • Sleep bags are like blankets with zips/ fastners, so that babies do not kick them off or get suffocated.  Just make the li’l one wear a sleep bag and put her off to bed.
  • They are very comfortable for li’l ones, with no sheets or blankets to wriggle under. They keep them snug throughout their sleep.
  • They are also perfect for short or long trips as they provide a familiar environment for the baby to sleep.
